How the room works
Everyone sits in the same stream of messages, newest at the bottom. You read along, jump in when something catches your eye and leave whenever you like. Because the room is shared with other sites that run on the same chat service, it is rarely empty, whatever time you arrive.
- Reply to a specific message so people know who you mean.
- React with an emoji instead of typing when you just agree.
- Tap a name to see a small profile card before you reply.
- Delete your own message if you regret it.
- Report anything that breaks the rules.
Why people like a public room
One-to-one chat depends on one other person being interesting. A room gives you a crowd: if the topic is not for you, wait a minute, because the conversation moves. It is also easier to start. You can just read for a while, then drop a single line when you have something to say.
The rules that keep it pleasant
- Three messages a minute, so nobody can flood the room.
- No links, phone numbers or social handles. They are blocked automatically.
- No abuse. Hindi, English and mixed-language insults are filtered and users who keep trying are banned.
- Adults only. You confirm you are 18+ before you join.
Messages in the room disappear after a short time, so it is a place to talk in the moment, not a record. You can read how we handle data in the Privacy Policy.
Prefer one-to-one?
Try text chat or video chat for a single stranger, or play Scribble if you would rather do something together than just talk.
A quick tour of the room
- Swipe a message to the right to reply to it.
- Tap a message to react, copy it or report it.
- Tap an avatar to see who someone is before you answer.
- Use the settings icon for sound and other preferences.
- Leave with the back button whenever you like. Nobody is notified.
Good habits in a public room
- Read the last few messages before you post so your line fits the topic.
- Keep it short. Long paragraphs get skipped in a fast room.
- Do not share personal details. Everyone in the room can see what you write.
- If someone is rude, ignore them and report. Replying feeds it.
Our short guide to the rules explains what is not allowed, and what happens if you break them.
